It was a big deal. A German businessman who did a lot of business
with England had the idea to bring musicals to Germany. He started
by putting CATS into a theater on the Reeperbahn. A relatively large
and successful musical scene in Germany ensued. Starlight Express,
started in Bochum by the same production company in the late 80s
is still running to this day.
