Hard Words

These one-word picture poems began in response to the custom of issuing wanted posters. I was searching for a new language… The lead and wood types, copper-electroplated and zinc photo - engravings were collected from various sources. 

The exhibition developed out of experimentation with computer-scanned printing surfaces (photo-engravings and printing type) and the most advanced processes of digital printing.

HARD WORDS is a working collaboration between Peter Koch and Griff Williams on a new form of typographic printmaking. 

The images are variously known and anonymous. The words are not arbitrary.
