Jeanne Hamilton was a well-known and much-loved
Flathead artist who lived, painted, and taught in the Kalispell area
for more than 40 years. Her legacy lives on in the memory of the many
students she taught at Flathead Valley Community College, the Hockaday
Center for the Arts, and in her home studio.

In 1982, Jeanne was honored a Woman of the year by Beta Sigma Phi. The Hockaday Museum of Art dedicated a memorial library after Jeanne in 1993. It was initially started with books from Jeanne's own personal collection. Today, this library has grown to over 2600 books thanks to the donations of many patrons, the hard work of our librarian James Udick, and the generous support of Christopher Hamilton. Her husband Robert taught Spanish at Flathead High School for 25 years. Together they raised three wonderful boys: Robin, Christopher and Terry.
Today, her portraits can be found in many art collections around the Flathead Valley. Today, over 400 of her finished portraits of children and families hang in homes across the United States.
