This exhibition highlights the paintings and three-dimensional works of John Rawlings. Rawlings began teaching full-time at Flathead Valley Community College in 1991 and he is currently director of the Art Department. The exhibition encompasses the skill that Rawlings has mastered in several mediums and explores the process of making art. In Rawlings’ three-dimensional works, he explores the various surface patterns, some smooth while others have a textural surface. Rawlings’ paintings are filled with subtle colors, some rich and vibrant while others have a monochromatic theme. Drawing and painting are essential to the process of exploring and creating his works of art. Observing his work in all of the mediums in one exhibition allows the viewer to see how intertwined his work is regardless of which medium he chooses to create in. |
