Frank Hagel (1933 - )

   Realist impressionistic painter and sculptor of the historical northwest, the trappers, mountain men, Indians, and wildlife.  He graduated from the Art Center College of Design in Los Angeles in 1959.

   He was born in Kalispell and has lived there since 1972. After trying ranching, rodeoing, logging, and construction, Frank Hagel served in the U. S. Navy from 1952 to 1955.
   He moved to Detroit as an illustrator and by 1968 he was able spend his falls out in Montana where he could paint and do some big game guiding.
   In addition to his traditional works, he has also designed and sculpted medals and murals.
